A major oil company chose the Ultra G5™ cable-free acquisition system when they needed to tackle a very difficult field acquisition challenge last fall. With only 8 days to complete a project from start to finish, the cable-free system played a key role in getting the job done – on time and within budget!

The extreme portability and geophysical flexibility of the Ultra G5™ proved an ideal solution for the difficult terrain and environmental sensitivity. The field operation finished 2 days earlier than estimated, in large part a result of the system’s simplicity and ease of deployment and retrieval.

Performing in Record-setting Floods

The Ultra G5™ cable-free recording system proved the ONLY way to get the job done when record rains and flooding on a Central American project last season created the most challenging seismic acquisition conditions in 30 years.

When steep slopes turned to slippery mud, and roads and paths were flooded waist-deep, the G5s continued recording, despite difficult river crossings and flooded paths. Even in these worst of conditions, the 50 sq km cable-free project produced some of the best quality data to date, reporting less than a 2% data loss.

This difficult jungle environment is the de facto test environment for the G5 system, driving engineering refinements and operational procedures, resulting in the most reliable and efficient cable-free system on the market today.
